Introduction to Incoterms
What Are Incoterms?
Incoterms, short for “International Commercial Terms,” are rules set by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to define the responsibilities of buyers and sellers in international transactions. Updated every 10 years, the current rules are from 2010. These terms include abbreviations like FOB (Free on Board), DAP (Delivery at Place), and CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight), and they clarify what each party is responsible for regarding handling, transporting, and delivering goods.
Available Incoterms
Our Shipping Incoterms
We offer the following Incoterms for shipping
EXW (Ex Works)
The seller delivers goods at a predetermined location. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and related risks, including customs regulations, loading, and transferring
Applicable To: Air and sea freight.
FOB (Free On Board)
The seller is responsible for goods until they are delivered to the port. The buyer covers freight charges and assumes risk from the port onward. If terms are “FOB destination, freight prepaid,” the seller covers freight costs and risks until delivery.
Applicable To: Air and sea freight.
CNF (Cost and Freight)
The seller handles the loading and transportation to the destination port but the buyer assumes risk and must arrange insurance for the goods during transit.
Applicable To: Air and sea freight.
CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight)
The seller pays for the cost, insurance, and freight to the destination port. Risk transfers to the buyer once goods are on board.
Applicable To: Air and sea freight.
