Pullover, zip-up, or crewneck
A pullover offers a continuous front for graphics and a familiar casual shape. A zip-up adds hardware, front opening, and different layering behavior. A crewneck removes the hood and can support a cleaner sweatshirt direction. Choose the product that fits the customer and collection rather than launching every variation. Each type requires its own measurements, construction details, sample, and quotation.
Choose the intended silhouette
Define regular, relaxed, oversized, cropped, athletic, or heavyweight direction through measurements. Shoulder drop, chest width, body length, sleeve volume, hood coverage, pocket size, and rib tension create the silhouette. Reference images help communicate intent, but a measurement chart and approved sample are needed to reproduce it. Check grading so the intended proportion survives across the size range.
Match fabric to the hoodie type
Match French terry, brushed fleece, cotton-rich knits, or other proposed materials to climate, warmth, drape, structure, decoration, and care. Review composition, knit, weight, interior, finish, shrinkage, and pilling together. The rib should have suitable stretch and recovery for cuffs and hems. Approve the real fabric and color because names and GSM alone do not define how a hoodie behaves.
Specify hoods, pockets, rib, and closures
Specify single- or double-layer hood, drawcord, eyelets, zipper, kangaroo or welt pockets, rib, panels, topstitching, and reinforcement. These choices affect appearance, sewing time, comfort, and price. For zip-ups, control zipper length, tape, teeth, puller, and alignment. For heavy fabrics, review seam bulk and whether the hood or pocket pulls the garment out of balance.
Plan decoration around the garment
Plan screen print, puff print, embroidery, patches, appliqué, or transfers around fabric and placement. Large or heavy artwork can affect drape, comfort, and care. Approve size and position on the relevant garment size, not only on a mockup. Add woven labels, printed labels, hangtags, and packaging to the same approval pack so brand finishing is not improvised after the garment is complete.
Build a focused first hoodie range
A focused first range is easier to sample, fund, and control. Choose a hero hoodie and a small number of purposeful variations rather than changing fit, fabric, color, and decoration on every item. Share materials and trims where this supports the design. Provide quantities by style, color, and size so the manufacturer can check material minimums and quote the actual launch plan.
Prepare a production-ready hoodie brief
Prepare sketches or references, measurements, fabric direction, construction, artwork, trims, labels, packaging, quantity, size breakdown, destination, and target timing. Mark open decisions clearly. KNAPMOD currently accepts hoodie projects from 50 pieces, with typical production of 14 days at that MOQ after approvals and material readiness. Larger quantities require a tailored schedule, and shipping depends on country.
