Decisions for your first sample

01

Size by real measurements

Age names vary between brands. Give the target child height, garment chest, body length and sleeve dimensions for each size instead of reducing an adult tee by a percentage.

02

Check the neck for dressing

Define the relaxed and stretched opening on the smallest size. Ask to see the neck seam and binding inside as well as the finished collar on the front.

03

Scale artwork deliberately

An adult-size front graphic can crowd a small chest. Specify the smallest printable design and where placement changes between size groups; review inks and labels for the intended market.

What to check on arrival

Check dressing ease on an appropriate form and inspect the inside print and seams. Measure after the proposed wash and compare the graphic position on both ends of the size range.

What to include in your quote request

Send height bands, neck construction, fabric hand and graphics by size group. Give destination and any buyer-specific requirements for children's garments.
