Decisions for your first sample

01

Choose a shell by movement

Handle a fabric sample and listen to it while walking. A crisp shell and a soft shell may look alike in a photograph but feel very different over a jersey.

02

Map the vents and linings

Mark whether the back yoke opens, where mesh is needed and which pockets must stay accessible beneath it. A decorative flap is not a functioning vent.

03

Define any performance requirement

A windbreaker silhouette does not establish water resistance or a tested wind rating. State the intended conditions and test requirement separately for feasibility review.

What to check on arrival

Zip the collar up and move the arms through the intended activity. Inspect zip guard clearance, shell catching in the slider and the hem position over a base layer.

Brief your windbreakers.

Send fabric hand, hood or collar reference, zip length, pocket layout and delivery country. For a packable style, include the proposed packed dimensions.

Your outerwear quote.

Describe the jacket or coat, shell, lining and intended use. Include construction references, quantities, delivery country and any required testing.
