Decisions for your first sample
Make the front artwork fit
State the finished width of the badge or embroidery. If lettering crosses a centre seam, ask to see it stitched on the assembled front rather than approving a flat digital proof alone.
Match the back components
Name the mesh, sweatband and closure colours independently. A contrasting snap can be intentional; a near match that only becomes obvious outdoors usually is not. Indicate the intended adjustment range.
What to check on arrival
Fasten the sample at both ends of the intended size range. Look at it from the side for a collapsing crown, from the front for a tilted badge, and from the back for mesh pulling away from the closure.
